Beethoven – Symphony No. 3

The Budapest Festival Orchestra’s recording of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3, ‘Eroica’ and Coriolan Overture, released in April by Channel Classics Records, has been awarded the Diapason D’or Arte prize by the French magazine Diapason. This prestigious ‘Golden Tuning Fork of the Year’ was last awarded to us by the magazine’s critics in 2009 for our Mahler recording.
Hugues Mousseau, who wrote the citation for awarding our new Beethoven disc, was not sparing with his compliments: ‘There is something exhilarating in the assurance and subtlety with which the conductor controls the flowing energies and makes the orchestra almost eloquent at the most varied levels. We have reached a real milestone in the history of the recording of this piece.’
